▩ Marina San Andrés: Málaga’s New Luxury Waterfront Destination

Málaga is poised to unveil one of its most ambitious developments yet—Marina San Andrés, a new luxury marina that will redefine the city’s western waterfront and elevate its global maritime profile. Nestled at the mouth of the Guadalmedina River, adjacent to the emerging Huelin district, the marina is not just a hub for yachts and sailing enthusiasts but a destination in its own right.
With nearly 115,000 square meters of total space—65,000 of water and 50,000 of land—this striking new addition is more than a marina. It is a cultural, commercial, and recreational center designed to integrate seamlessly with Málaga’s urban fabric. Its location, just minutes from the city centre and within walking distance of future landmarks like the Music Auditorium, promises to turn a formerly overlooked area into a prime gathering point for both locals and international visitors.
The marina will feature between 566 and 600 berths, welcoming boats from 8 to 30 meters in length, along with designated space for superyachts. In addition to a full suite of technical services—workshops, a dry dock for over 100 boats, a control tower, and a sailing school—the design includes a vibrant landside offering. Seven low-rise commercial buildings will host boutique shops, gourmet restaurants, cafés, wellness centers, and a children’s area. Rooftop terraces and open public spaces will invite relaxed afternoons and social evenings, designed to rival the atmosphere of the popular Muelle Uno.
Beyond retail and yachting, Marina San Andrés aims to be a cultural connector. Its proximity to El Bulto and the planned Music Auditorium ensures it will serve as a natural extension of Málaga’s arts and events scene. A new pedestrian promenade will link the surrounding green spaces and beaches with the marina, fostering a sense of continuity between land and sea.
Sustainability is also at the core of this project. With bioclimatic architecture, photovoltaic panels, and careful integration with the environment, the development aligns with Málaga’s growing reputation as a forward-thinking, environmentally conscious city. The architecture blends clean lines with contemporary Mediterranean aesthetics, creating a modern landmark without overwhelming its surroundings.
Backed by a €60 million investment from the Qatari fund Al Alfia, in collaboration with IGY Marinas and Ocean Capital Partners, Marina San Andrés is expected to bring long-term economic benefits to the region. Over its 50-year concession, the project is projected to contribute over €780 million in direct and indirect economic impact, while generating hundreds of new jobs during construction and operation.
With construction expected to begin in mid-2025 and the grand opening scheduled for 2026 or 2027, the anticipation is building. For residents, the marina will offer an enhanced quality of life, new leisure opportunities, and greater connection to the sea. For tourists, it promises a new level of elegance and experience—a place where the sophistication of nautical travel meets the vibrancy of one of Europe’s most exciting coastal cities.
Marina San Andrés is more than a marina. It is the next chapter in Málaga’s transformation into a world-class waterfront city.
